Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) is at the core of the La Mancha investment philosophy, because we believe that ESG performance is integral to the success of a mining operation.
To us, investing sustainably means continuous measurable improvement on ESG matters like mitigating climate change, managing impacts & improving workforce.
We take a holistic & systematic approach to ESG risk management and disclosure to ensure risks are flagged and proactively managed. Our ESG risk management systems aim to ensure portfolio companies:
Environment
Minimise impact through energy management & decarbonisation, processing optimisation, tailings management, and water management etc.
Social
Maximise impact through continuous improvement of operational health and safety, management and monitoring of human rights & conflict and improvements in diversity, equity & inclusion.
Governance
Improve performance through the adoption of industry leading ESG standards, metrics and reporting, software driven ESG risk management systems as well as linking executive pay to industry leading ESG objectives.
Our objective is to be leading corporate citizens that enjoy strong support from the communities in which the Fund’s portfolio companies operate. We work to ensure portfolio companies are committed to building and maintaining strong relationships and contributing to their communities in a transparent manner through the Fund’s board representation.
To date, all of the Fund’s portfolio companies have achieved significantly better ESG metrics during their investment tenure.
